Are you wondering how to move beyond using so many treats in your training? One of the best ways to do that is to use alternative reinforcements like play, toys and the environment itself! In addition to alternative reinforcement, it is usually important to continue to use some food in certain situations but there are different ways to use food that will also help reduce dependence on it.

This class is for students who have completed Intermediate Agility and is limited to (5) students.

Bring your puppy for a night of supervised play with other pups — because the best classroom is a room full of furry distractions!

While the puppies romp and socialize, we’ll weave in listening skills and manners training so your pup goes home happily exhausted and a little more civilized. There will also be opportunities to ask any burning questions you have but haven’t had an opportunity to ask!

It’s the perfect combination of structured socialization and good old-fashioned puppy fun.

For Puppies 12 -24  weeks of age.  1 hour $35

Tune-up manners and training skills!  Here’s a list of things we will work on but depending on the group we may add additional work and skills!

• Loose-leash walking (yes, you get to choose the direction)
• Reliable sits, downs, and stays
• Polite greetings — for dogs and people alike
• Focus and attention when the world gets distracting

If your dog needs more work on contact equipment and getting a more reliable end behavior…join us for this two week workshop where we will focus on the contact equipment!

Does your dog ignore you when you get outside?     In this working workshop we will address how to work through distractions that your dog encounters every day! Enticing Smells Squirrels, Birds Other Dogs Joggers/Bikers. The pre-requisite is Beginning or Puppy II class and all dogs must be friendly with people and dogs (not reactive toward other dogs or people) and enjoy working in a class setting.

Puppy Kindergarten class is just the tip of the iceberg for training good manners that can last a lifetime. Learn the tools professional dog-trainers use to raise great puppies. In this 75-minute workshop you’ll learn how to build your puppy’s listening skills, confidence and impulse control through games and exercises and much more!

Looking to get more practice on calling your dog to come? In this workshop we will focus on recalls that are more challenging due to distractions. Learn how to practice for these type of distractions and what to do so that you are more confident that you can get your dog to come to you when you call!

Keep your dog’s mind delightfully engaged with our Beat the Heat workshop – held indoors in our air conditioned training facility.

Practice training through fun indoor games and clever tricks that will tire out your pup mentally and physically!

Is your dog nervous, concerned, or reactive toward dogs or people? This focused 1-hour workshop (limited to six dogs) provides essential foundations for addressing reactivity and prepares you for ongoing work in our Reactive Dog Class. Notes: this is not appropriate for dogs that have injured a person or dog.

Learn fun games and great tricks to play with your dog when the weather is oh, so cold! In addition to keeping your dog mentally and physically busy, these games will improve your dog’s manners and impulse control. This workshop is open to dogs who have taken one or more classes with Dog’s Best Friend. This is ideal for students who have done Puppy II or Beginning class. 1.25 hrs

Our Winter Games Workshop was a hit! Chelse is coming back with Winter Games Level 2 You’ll learn how to take skills from Winter Games Level 1 to the next level and lots of new skills and games to add to your toolbox!
