Basic Obedience

For dogs 5 months and older who have not had a group training class.
Learn basic commands including sit, down, off, come, stay, attention work, walking on a leash, polite greeting behavior and foundations for heel.
5 week session

For dogs 5 months or older.
For dogs that have difficulty paying attention, are highly excitable and/or easily distracted.
Learn how to get your dog to focus and be in control.
5 week session.

For dogs who have completed Beginning or Puppy II
Refine and work on making the commands learned in previous class “real-life ready”
Introduce working on having more control when your dog is at a distance
Focus on compliance when faced with distractions

For dogs who have completed Intermediate
Polish the basic commands so that compliance is quick and automatic
Continue to refine heel and distance control
Begin off-leash work

This class is for dogs that have difficulty with arousal and is a different dog in these situations.  Learn training skills and games to help your dog feel less stressed and more confident in situations that normally create arousal and the inability to focus and remain in control and calm.

Does your dog have the basics, but you’re not sure how to transfer those basics to environments that are distracting? This class that will work step by step on taking the skills you’ve learned and start working through the distractions that get your dog’s attention, when you are trying to get them to listen to you.

The Canine Good Citizen (or CGC) test is a certification by the AKC and is open to dogs of any breeding. The test is comprised of ten different skills. This is a preparatory class to ready you for the test. Exercises include general manners such as sitting quietly by your side while you hold a conversation with another person

For dogs who have completed Intermediate Class
Work on your training skills where it counts most…the Great Outdoors!
Dogs must be friendly and non-reactive with dogs and people

Teach your dog to come when called, quickly and with enthusiasm
Recalls while your dog is distracted and at distances
Prerequisites: Really Reliable Recall 1 is for dogs who have completed Puppy II or Beginning class. Really Reliable Recall 2 is for dogs who have completed Really Reliable Recall 1

For dogs who have completed Puppy II or Beginning class
Emphasis on teaching your dog to have a loose leash while walking and pay attention while on walks
Teaching polite greetings – no jumping!

Do you have a small breed dog and want to find a place to have Molly interact and play with other small dogs all while working on her training and listening skill? Tiny Tots is just that class. This class is for social, friendly small dogs under 20 lbs that like to interact with others.

Most of us think of a walk with our dog as just that…walking! In this class, we will learn what a good walk entails. From sniffing and why it is good (not bad!) for your dog, parkour for exercise and flexibility to fun to games that use their brain in addition to physical exercise.

Does your dog only listen when you’re right next to them? Transform your training with this workshop that teaches the foundations so that your dog can start to respond reliably to cues from across the room, yard, or park.

Dogs do best when things are familiar and consistent.  Life isn’t always familiar or predictable. This class uses a newer set of skills that trainers have recently started using called Pattern Games that can really help your dog in these type of situations.  What is also great about these games and cues is that they are easy to understand and implement.  Chelse Wagner CBCC-KA CPDT-KA with over 25 years of professional training and behavior experience leads this course.  This class meets for 5 weeks and is 50 minutes.

Does your dog chase anything with a tail or wings? Do you tell people that your dog has high prey drive? If you are worried every time your dog is off-leash that they may catch a critter, join us for this class that will help your dog learn to listen to you rather than chasing that squirrel!

This class is for dogs who have completed our Intermediate or Advanced class. We will work outdoors on advanced level skills – recalls, heeling, stays, remote cues and some off leash work. This class is a small sized class and meets for five weeks.

For dogs who have completed Advanced class
This is our most advanced-level obedience class
Focus is on compliance while working off-leash

This class will work on beginning skills to help with handling needs: brushing, nails and ear cleaning as examples

In addition we will introduce Talking Buttons, where you dog can learn to press a particular button with a specific recorded word like “Outside”.

Both of these will help improve and clarity communication with your dog to help make living together more peaceful and joyful.

High-energy dogs need more than miles, they need activities that engage their minds while exercising their bodies. This class will introduce games using movement which will increase engagement and focus transforming them into your ideal companion – or at least moving them toward that goal! These are not just plain beginner level games.

We are excited to offer the next level to this class! We will increase distractions – think people running, dogs running – and continue to work on helping your dog with emotional control. This class will still remain small in numbers with two trainers

Beginning Family Dog Training Group Class

Class pre-req is Movement Games level 1. In this class we will continue to work on Movement Puzzles and pattern movement exercises adding more objects, distance and obstacles. The exercises are carefully chosen so that they would help your dog focus on what her body is doing and controlling her movements

For dogs in their teenage year, this course will continue training started in Puppy Kindergarten and Puppy II with a focus on adding distractions especially as it relates to other dogs in play and walking by on leash.  For dogs that have completed both puppy classes (or instructor approval) and are under 1 year of age and friendly and non-reactive to other dogs.

Practice training through fun indoor games and clever tricks that will tire out your pup mentally and physically!

In this one hour workshop we will work on the skills needed to help your dog pay attention to you. Does your dog ignore your cue to come? Does it seem like Lassie is ignoring you when something better is happening nearby? Step One: Get their attention! Without that, we can’t get anything else!

Is your dog nervous, concerned, or reactive toward dogs or people? This focused 1-hour workshop (limited to six dogs) provides essential foundations for addressing reactivity and prepares you for ongoing work in our Reactive Dog Class. Notes: this is not appropriate for dogs that have injured a person or dog.
